Why you can trust SEMO Boutique

SEMO Boutique is built for neighbors in Southeast Missouri, not for anonymous accounts from far away. This page explains how we think about trust, safety, and your data when you use the site.

If something feels off, you can always report a listing or reach out to us. We would rather check one extra report than miss a real problem.
Local and independent Simple rules, clear expectations No selling of your data

Local and independent

SEMO Boutique is a small, local marketplace that focuses on Southeast Missouri. We keep the scope tight on purpose so people are more likely to meet face to face and less likely to deal with bots or high volume resellers.

The site is run by a real person who lives in the region, not by a distant corporation. If you reach out, you are not writing to a ticketing system. You are writing to someone who also has a stake in keeping this place safe and useful.

What we allow and what we do not allow

SEMO Boutique is for everyday items that neighbors want to swap, sell, or give away. We do not want stolen goods, dangerous products, or anything that puts people at risk.

  • We expect honest descriptions and realistic prices.
  • We do not allow threats, harassment, or hate of any kind.
  • We do not allow weapons, drugs, or other clearly illegal items.
  • We reserve the right to remove listings that feel off, even if they are not on a long legal list yet.

For more detail on what is allowed, read the Marketplace Rules page.

How we keep the marketplace clean

We use a mix of simple checks and community reports to keep SEMO Boutique from turning into a junk pile or a scam farm.

  • We check new accounts and listings for obvious red flags.
  • We respond to reports from users and remove content that breaks the rules.
  • We may block repeat offenders from posting or contacting other users.

We do not catch everything. That is why reports from neighbors matter. When in doubt, report it and let us take a look.

How to report a problem

If you see a listing, message, or user that looks wrong, we want to hear about it.

  • Use the report option on the listing, if it is available.
  • Or email us with a link to the listing and a short note about what feels off.

Include as many details as you can so we can act quickly. Screenshots help. So do dates and times.

Your data and your privacy

We collect only the information we need to run the marketplace, such as your login details and the information in your listings. We use that information to keep your account working and to show your items to the right people.

We do not want to make money by selling your personal contact information. If we ever change how we handle data in a meaningful way, we will update our privacy policy and let you know.

For legal details and a full breakdown of what we collect, how we store it, and when we might share it, read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use pages.
